What Is Letter Numerology?

A letter is a vote, not a personality

In name numerology, each letter carries a number. Stack the numbers and you get the name seats: Expression from every letter, Soul Urge from the vowels, Personality from the consonants. The digit that shows up most is Hidden Passion. The digits that never show are missing numbers.

One A does not make someone a 1. Three A's plus a J can. The rest of the name, and the birthday, still have a vote. Hobby sites that sell “the meaning of your first initial” are flattening 26 letters into a slogan. This house counts the whole spelling.

How a letter is counted

A=1 through I=9, then the alphabet repeats. J is 1, the same as A. S is 1. R is 9, the same as I. That is the Pythagorean cipher behind every name seat on this site.

Vowels become the Soul Urge — the private hunger. Consonants become the Personality — the door the room meets. Every letter together is the Expression — how the Path gets done.

How it is calculated

No mystery math. Write the birth name. Give each letter its Pythagorean value. Add. Reduce, keeping 11, 22, and 33 when they appear as a final result. Birth time is not used. Nicknames are a different instrument — the standing chart uses the full birth spelling.

The public sample is Jordan Avery Blake, born 15 January 1990. Life Path is 8 from the date. The letters write everything else.

Three A's plus J vote for 1 four times. That is why the hunger and the door both read as pioneer, while the birthday assigns an executive curriculum the letters did not pack. One letter is a vote. The name is the instrument. The date is the country.

Vowels, consonants, and Y

A E I O U always count as vowels. They write Soul Urge.

Y is the hinge. Y is a vowel in a word only when that word has no A, E, I, O, or U. Lynn: Y counts. Taylor: Y does not (A and O are already there). Y in Avery is a consonant. That is the Soul Urge rule used everywhere on this site — not a vibe, a counting rule. See letter Y.

Everything else is a consonant. Personality is not “who you are.” It is who they meet in the first ten seconds.

Two ciphers, one alphabet

Pythagorean (1–9, every letter) runs Expression, Soul Urge, Personality, Hidden Passion, and missing numbers. That is the standing chart.

Chaldean (1–8, no letter is a 9) is fenced on Transits & Essence. It times a chapter. It does not rewrite a Life Path, and it does not replace the Pythagorean name seats. If a site uses Chaldean to give you a new Expression, it is not doing this craft.

How letters sit with the rest of the chart

Letters never write the Life Path. The Path is the date. A name loud with 1s on an 8 Path is a pioneer instrument in an executive country — which is exactly the Jordan sample. Confusing a first initial with a Life Path is how people take a letter as fate.

A letter in the birth name is lifelong fabric. A Chaldean transit of the same letter is a chapter of weather. Do not rebuild your character around a year that happens to rhyme with a letter you were given at birth.
