Take the full birth name as written at birth — first, middle, last. Count the vowels. A E I O U always. Y counts as a vowel only when the word has no other vowel (Lynn: yes. Taylor: no. Signature 8 / 11 / 1 / 1. Life Path 8 is the road. Expression 11 is the instrument. Soul Urge 1 and Personality 1 are the private want and the first face — the same digit in two jobs. That is why a reading that stops at “you are an 8” is incomplete.

Read Soul Urge next to Personality (the consonants) every time. One without the other is a costume. A hard Personality can hide a soft hunger. A soft Personality can hide a steel Path. Then check it against Expression (the whole name) and Life Path (the birthday).

What Soul Urge is not
- Not the first impression. That is Personality. Rooms hire the door. You live in the house.
- Not a permission slip to abandon the Path. A 5 Soul Urge on a 4 Path still has to build. The hunger asks for air inside the structure, not a wrecking ball on day one.
- Not a nickname calculation unless that is the name you are testing. The natal Soul Urge is the birth certificate spelling. A daily name is a second chart.
