Ace of Wands

The picture

A fist of living flame, orange and gold to the wrist, grips a twisted cedar staff from below. Cedar sprigs with tiny cones and patches of moss break from the bark. At the crown a gold lotus opens inside a corona of fire, sparks and gold leaf drifting into a star-pricked indigo sky. Rose dusk sits on a range of blue hills. There is no lantern and no hearth — only the first grip, the staff, and the night.

In this house

The Ace of Wands is fire before it has a fireplace. Desire, a venture, a creative ignition: the suit of enterprise still in the hand, not yet in a room. Wands are will that wants a world to move in. This pip is the match — heat without a chimney, a yes in the body before the plan has a name.
