The picture

Strength is Leo as composure. Javane numbers this 8: power, resources, the ethics of force. The old decks put Justice here; this house follows the Waite–Javane line and keeps Strength at 8, because eight is the number that has to handle appetite without becoming it. Teth is the serpent: heat that can kill or keep a house, depending on the hands.

The woman does not wrestle. She relates. That is the whole teaching. Courage here is patience with a living animal — rage, desire, a public, a body. The shadow is either the lion running the garden, or the woman who thinks gentleness means no spine. Tamed force. The lion is not killed. He is met.

When the heat rises — an email, a hunger, a slight — put both hands on it before you speak. One firm sentence. One kind sentence. Then do the next unit of work so the lion has a job besides the garden. Leave the roses standing.

As a life theme

You came to handle power, resources, and leadership with integrity. A life measured only in status is the shadow of the same number. This is a standing theme of 8, not a second Life Path. Appetite is not the enemy. Unrelated appetite is. Meet the lion daily. Let the garden remain a garden. Force that has been tamed can build a house.
